    National & Regional Icons

    With the aim of creating awareness and motivating the masses to participate in the electoral process, popular public figures like sportspersons Shri M S Dhoni, Mr Jasbir Jassi, Dr Niru Kumar and film actor Shri Aamir Khan have been designated as ECI’s National Icons. In addition, several artists, sportspersons, actors, musicians and public figures have become the face of SVEEP initiatives in the States.

    Corporate Houses & Federations

    Realising the catalytic role Public Sector Enterprises and Corporate Houses could play in enhancing citizen engagement, a Framework of Engagement was developed in 2013 for collaboration with the Corporate Houses in the field of voter education and participation. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2014, a national level partnership was forged with various federations like FICCI, CII, NASSCOM, ASSOCHAM, TATA Global Beverages and CELL.

    Media Houses/ Radio and TV Channels

    Zee Media Corporation Ltd was the first media house to partner with ECI which was further strengthened during the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 through the ZEE campaign ‘Apka Vote ApkiTaaqat’. RED FM 93.5, Digital Radio (Delhi) Broadcasting Ltd carried out an intensive awareness campaign ‘Button dabaakebajaa’ during the same elections. Television channels like ET NOW and CNBC-TV 18 also contributed to ECI’s efforts through short films and audio-visuals on voter awareness.

    Government Departments

    In the bygone elections, there have been successful collaborations with various government departments and organization that have enabled SVEEP to reach out to a wider population with its messages of voter awareness and education. These collaborations have been in terms of creation of multimedia products, broadcasts and most importantly the lending of support by the human resource for one-to-one interaction with the voters and their subsequent empowerment.

    Non-Government Organisations/ Civil Society Organisations

    In addition to numerous NGOs, CSOs, RWAs, groups and individuals who support the efforts of election managers in the State and Districts for voters’ education through their voluntary and partnered work, United Nations Development Programme has been a significant partner for SVEEP initiatives, especially for production of voter edutainment material, publications and organising voters’ festivals.

About Us

SVEEPSystematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is a programme of multi interventions through different modes and media designed to educate citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes. SVEEP is designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.   

Election Commission of India

ECIThe Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering election processes in India. The body administers elections to the Lok SabhaRajya Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies in India, and the offices of the President and Vice President in the country. The Election Commission operates under the authority of Constitution per Article 324, and subsequently enacted Representation of the People Act
