STATE LEVEL QUIZ COMPETITION ON ELECTORAL PROCESSES

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim,  in a bid to encourage young eligible voters to come forward and register themselves in the Electoral Roll and to generate awareness regarding electoral processes, conceptualised the  Quiz on Electoral processes as a SVEEP initiative for Electoral Literacy Clubs. (ELCs) on 30.Nov.2022. The main motive of the Quiz competition was to generate awareness regarding registration processes and to motivate all young eligible voters to register themselves during the ongoing Special Summary Revision, w.r.t.1.1.2023 as qualifying date. A total of   17 colleges throughout the state participated in the Quiz. The Quiz was held in two levels, the first was intra- district ELC College level which was held in all six districts of the State w.e.f 17.11.2022 to 28.11.2022. Winners of the Intra- district level processed for the State level final, where the quiz competition was inter- district level. The State Final of Quiz on electoral processes was conducted  on 30.11.2022 in the Conference hall of the Office, here at Balwakhani  Gangtok. The quiz was conducted by Quiz master Dr. Bibeth Sharma from Sikkim Manipal University.

The following colleges represented their districts:

1.       Gangtok: Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt Degree College

2.       Namchi: Sikkim Government College, Kamrang

3.       Soreong: B.Ed College, Soreng

4.       Gyalshing:Sikkim Government College, Gyalshing

5.       Mangan: Sikkim Government College, Mangshila

6.       Pakyong: Sikkim Government College, Rhencok

The winner of the quiz competition at the State finale were:

1.       First place- Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt Degree College, Gangtok District

a.      Mr. Dipendra Gurung

b.      Mr. Palden Lepcha
