Sharing the list of claims and objections received during the ongoing special summary revision w.r.t.01.01.2023 as qualifying date Updated
The Chief Electoral Officer held a meeting with representatives of all political parties of the state in his chamber on 13.12.2022, the main objective of the meeting was to share the list of claims and objections received during the ongoing special summary revision w.r.t.01.01.2023 as qualifying date. the list was shared with pol parties as a transparency measure as advice by the ECI . The list of claims and objections received so fare have also put up in the official website of CEO Sikkim, and district election officers. the representative of the following pol parties were present : 1. Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM)
2. Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF)
3. Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)
4. Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC)

SVEEP Activity 2023 Updated
A SVEEP Program & Award Distribution event was held today at Zilla Panchayat Conference Hall, Gangtok. The district icon, Mr. Pema Dorjee Bhutia and district PwD icon, Ms. Poonam Tamang were felicitated and they interacted with the participants explaining the significance of exercising our voting rights. The prizes were also distributed to the winners of song-writing, slogan-writing, painting and quiz competition were conducted amongst all senior secondary schools of Gangtok district as part of SVEEP activities.

Reaching the Unreached Updated
We as a democracy elect our leaders as per our choices. And that’s one of the most vital privileges we have got. Voting is one of the basic rights accorded to every person after the attainment of 18 years of age. But this right is not exercised by many people the reason being either lack of interest in the political activities or not being sensitized towards the Electoral Process. And to spread awareness against such practices, we have the National Voter’s Day.
Hence, “NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND’ has been the motto of the ECI since the inception of National Voters Day. Taking a leaf from their motto, the office of the chief Electoral officer, Sikkim initiated the “Reaching the Unreached” Campaign, wherein the Department and the District Election Offices sensitized Child care Institutions, Old age Homes, Sikkim Spastic Society and Detoxification centres in and around Sikkim about the Electoral process.
Often times, in our race for development, we tend to ignore some pockets of society which may not fit in any developmental index. Thus we decided to penetrate some of these ignored pockets and sensitize the last voter in child care institutions and old age homes all over the State. The staff of these institutes were also sensitized.
In order to further the initiative of the ECI on “Accessible Elections”, we went to the Spastic Society of Sikkim and sensitized the staff about involving the children in the electoral process. Under the “Reaching the Unreached” Campaign, the O/o the CEo has written to all the disability homes and centers in the State for nominating a Nodal officer who would be responsible for getting the new PwD Voters enrolled on time.

Mock Election organized by CCCT Polytechnic college, Chisopani Updated
CCCT Polytechnic college, Chisopani under Namchi District conducted the mock election on 26th may 2022. The main objective of the event was to give the students a better understanding of democracy and to help them prepare for their role as Electors and to encourage their participation. The students were educated about the electoral process and were given a basic know how about how the electoral mechanism in the country. They were given a hands-on experience about the actual voting process at the polls. Emphasis was laid on explaining the importance of voting and to stress the fact as to why every vote matters.
