NATIONAL VOTERS DAY 2024 Updated January 30

Date : 25.01.2024 - The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, graced the 14th National Voters Day at Chintan Bhawan . The event was organized by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim, unfolded under the theme, "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure." During the event, the Hon’ble Governor administered the "NVD Pledge" and released videos of the ECI song "Mah Bharat Hoon" in regional languages. Additionally, he released appeal videos for the General Selection 2024 and videos for Sangha voters. The Hon’ble Governor felicitated icons, roll observers, Best BLOs, Special Awardees, and 15 new voters.
The cultural department added a patriotic touch to the celebration with performances of patriotic songs in Hindi and Nepali.

Sikkim begins its SVEEP activities for ELCs in the State for the year 2022- 2023

Mock election is a great activity to impart knowledge and hands-on experience to the ELC Members, it encourages them to be participative and inculcates a sense of pride and responsibility especially in the future voters and new voters.
with this motive a SVEEP drive to conduct Mock Election in all ELCs of the state has been initiated by the office of the CEO Sikkim. The following Government School from Mangan district conducted the mock election for their ELC members on month of May 2022.

ELC Registration Campaign. Updated June 13, 2023

Registration Campaign is a a drive organized by the O/o the CEO , Sikkim, wherein the campaign was carried out in all the ELCs from Secondary School, Senior Secondary and College level by the office of the District Election Officer at their respective Districts. The Campaign is for all the future voters and students who are eligible to vote in accordance to any four qualifying dates. Therefore, these eligible young voters are Registered in the Electoral Roll as a continuous process of practicing universal adult franchise.

Report on Revival of Electoral Literary Club (ELC)
A short programme on revival of Electoral Literary Club (ELC) was held at following Govt. Sec. School on the month of May 2022, under Pakyong District. The main motive was to engage students through activities and facilitating hands on experience to sensitize them on electoral rights and familiarize them with the electoral process of registration and voting. Mock Election conducted at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College, Tadong Updated June 9, 2022

The Electoral Literacy Club of Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt. College, Tadong headed by Nodal Officer, Miss Makutaa Rai and team conducted a Mock Election in NBBGC, Seminar Hall on the 26 th of May 2022. The main objective of the event was to give the students a better understanding of democracy and to help them prepare for their role as Electors and to encourage their participation. The students were educated about the electoral process and were given a basic know how about how the electoral mechanism in the country. They were given a hands-on experience about the actual voting process at the polls. Emphasis was laid on explaining the importance of voting and to stress the fact as to why every vote matters.
